Rockets.com Staff WriterHouston - Sure, the NBA draft is dandy and free agency is fun, but for many fans those things are nothing more than mere diversions which help pass the time between the end of the playoffs and the start of the regular season.
Thankfully, that wait is almost over.
On October 29th, the Rockets will begin one of the most hotly-anticipated seasons in franchise history. And as a way to further fan the flames of anticipation, Rockets.com now brings you the top five promotions of the '08-'09 season. Want tickets? Simply click on the link provided for each game. It's just that easy.
1. October 29th: Memphis vs. Houston
It's opening night - that alone should ensure a rockin' and rowdy Toyota Center. But this evening also comes with a twist: For the first time in franchise history, the Rockets will be sporting their red jerseys at home.
It's all part of the club's "Get Red!" campaign, which means the team is asking you to do your part as well. All fans are encouraged to wear their finest red attire and for those willing to go the extra mile, here's some additional motivation: An official from the Guinness Book of World Records will be on hand as the Rockets try to set a new mark for having the most red-faced (due to painting, of course) fans gathered at one event.
2. December 3rd: L.A. Clippers vs. Houston
Yao bobblehead night. Always a crowd pleaser. Makes a great stocking stuffer, too.
3. December 9th: Atlanta vs. Houston
Free RPD swimsuit calendars. Guaranteed to brighten every one of your days in 2009.
4. March 3rd: Toronto vs. Houston
Environmental awareness night. As part of the Rockets' "Get Red/Go Green" campaign, all fans will receive an eco-friendly reusable shopping bag.
5. March 20th: Minnesota vs. Houston
Cap night. Because every fan needs a lucky cap while supporting their favorite team during the stretch run (and beyond).
Last but not least, don't forget to check out Rockets.com's list of the top twelve must-see match-ups of the upcoming season.
