Thompson Voted to All-Star Roster
Albuquerque, NM Feb. 6, 2007 – GATORADE Call-Up Dijon Thompson has been selected as an All-Star to represent the Western Division team in Las Vegas during the first-ever NBA Development All-Star game on Saturday, February 17. Thompson was signed to two 10-day contracts by the Atlanta Hawks on January 6th. The 6’7” forward led the Thunderbirds to their 2006 D-League Championship averaging 19.2 points and 9 rebounds a game.
"Dijon is a very special player and I wish a few other guys on our team could join him in Vegas. He has spent the most time on an NBA roster and that makes him a great representative for our team. This will put him in front of a bunch of NBA scouts and hopefully, he gets another shot at the NBA soon." said Head Coach Michael Cooper.
The All-Star game will be held on Center Court at NBA All-Star Jam Session, presented by Adidas at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. The game will tip off at 3 p.m. MT and will be televised live on NBA TV.
The two 10-man rosters were selected by a combination of fan balloting on D-LEAGUE.com and voting of the league’s 12 head coaches. Prior to the game, East head coach Sidney Moncrief (Fort Worth) and West head coach Joe Wolf (Colorado) will choose starting lineups for their respective teams.
The 2007 Gillette D-League All-Star Game in association with 24 Hour Fitness will air live on NBA TV. NBA TV is available to 72 million U.S. households through several of the nation's top cable and satellite companies, including Comcast; Time Warner; Cox; Cablevision; Bright House; DIRECTV; and DISH Network.
